Standing in the Gap: Supporting Families Affected by the Government Shutdown and SNAP Benefit Delays

During this challenging time, the Charlie E & Minnie P Hendrix Foundation for Chronic Illness stands with families and individuals who are struggling due to the federal government shutdown and the resulting delay in November Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) benefits.

The USDA’s decision to suspend November SNAP issuances has left countless families uncertain about how they will put food on the table. For many—especially those living with chronic illnesses, limited mobility, and fixed incomes—this disruption in assistance has created a heartbreaking crisis.

At the Charlie E & Minnie P Hendrix Foundation, we believe that no one should go hungry. Through our initiative, “We Are Our Brother’s Keeper: No One Goes Hungry,” we are stepping in to provide emergency food boxes filled with nutritious, non-perishable items to those most affected. Our goal is to ensure that individuals and families—especially those battling chronic illnesses—have access to healthy meals during this period of uncertainty.
